Introduction to Wuwei Vocational College
Wuwei Vocational College (WWVC) is a comprehensive higher vocational university, which is situated in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, a key node city on the Belt and Road and renowned as the Capital of Tourism Symbols in China. Approved by the People's Government of Gansu Province in 2003, Wuwei Vocational College has a long history of education and profound cultural heritage, whose predecessor is Wuwei Normal School founded in 1915. Over the past 20 years, it has successively been identified as the national backbone higher vocational college, provincial model school, provincial high-quality school and provincial “Double First Class” school. More than 50,000 graduates with high-quality technical and skilled talents have been delivered to Gansu Province and even the whole country for economic and social development.
The college closely focuses on national strategies and the development of key industrial chains on provincial and municipal level, and has built a high-standard brand professional groups, such as Clean Energy, Medical Health Care, Modern Agriculture, Intelligent Manufacturing and Information Engineering. It has established 6 national key backbone majors, 10 provincial characteristic high-quality majors, and was approved to establish the first non-catalog hydrogen energy technology application major in China, filling the domestic gap. It has led the development of 3 national professional profiles and teaching standards, developed 5 national vocational standards for some countries along the Belt and Road, and contributed to the development of vocational education overseas.
Occupying around 291 acres of land in total, WWVC has a construction area of 412,950 square meters. Now there are 10,226 full-time college students studying and living here and 631 full-time teachers, among which, there are 228 with senior titles, 345 holding master's or doctoral degrees, and 356 Provincial Double Professional teachers. Additionally, 5 teachers are awarded as Provincial Famous Teacher, 6 teachers with the Gardener Award. Apart from these, WWVC establishes 8 Provincial Distinguished Teacher Studios, 1 Ideological and Political Education Team recognized by the Ministry of Education and 1 national Teacher Innovation Team. The teachers have clinched 2 national awards in teaching ability competitions, 1 first prize and 5 second prizes in provincial teaching achievement awards and students have garnered 6 national awards in skill competitions. Over the past three years, the employment rate for WWVC graduates has consistently exceeded 95%.
